I don’t know if I was the only one that was obsessed with House of Anubis when I was younger, but it became a show that I have so many feelings about. Here’s my ranking of the top 10 characters in the show.
Remember this is just my opinion and you are very much welcome to disagree.
10. Joy Mercer
Joy Mercer is an interesting character because we spend the whole first season wondering what the hell has happened to her and when she’s re-introduced as a main character I feel like they just didn’t know what to do with her. She spent a great deal of time acting like a mean girl and attempting to break up Fabian and Nina which just made her completely unlikeable. By the time we get to season 3, she’s drastically improved but, in my opinion, it’s not enough to put her any higher than number 10.
9. Mara Jaffray
Mara Jaffray is a character that starts off okay. She was in love with the popular guy and eventually got him so good for her, I guess. She became more fun as the show went on. But honestly, Mara would’ve been higher if the writers hadn’t made her entire season 3 journey be about getting revenge on Jerome. While I get her motivations it made her character very unlikeable.
8. KT Rush
As a late addition that was replacing the main character, KT was never going to be a character that was overwhelmingly liked. However, I think she did a good job in the show even though she did become very important very quickly. The show did get worse in season 3 but KT was one of the characters that made the show watchable.
7. Eddie Miller
Eddie Miller was introduced him season 2 and I pretty much liked him from the get-go. I think they didn’t try hard enough to make him out to be the ‘bad boy’ which is clearly what they wanted him to be. He didn’t ever do anything in the show that would make him out to be bad other than the stuff he did with Sibuna. I wasn’t the biggest fan of how important her became but they definitely needed a reason for him to be so involved with Sibuna so it wasn’t the worst decision. He was part of the best romantic relationship of the whole show though – nothing beats Patricia and Eddie.
6. Fabian Rutter
Fabian Rutter was a character that was always just nice (other than when he was a sinner, of course). He was always very welcoming and I think his obsession with ancient Egypt was so lovely to see because I love characters that have obsessions! I think it would’ve been nice to learn more about his backstory because we don’t really know anything about where he comes from and his family but other than that he was great. He was also a fantastic friend but maybe a little too nice for his own good sometimes (he should’ve shot Joy down straight away!!).
5. Alfie Lewis
Alfie Lewis was definitely there for comedic relief most of the time but he always had some fantastic ideas. He always shone when he was doing stilly things with Jerome but his friendships with everyone else were also really great. And, can we just say he clearly has a type? The ditzy girl that can be a little bit dumb but are great friends.
4. Nina Martin
I feel like if I was watching any other show Nina Martin, as the main character, would’ve been kind of annoying but I think she’s a fantastic main character. The show, unfortunately, went downhill after Nina left and her presence as a main character was definitely missed. Nina’s main relationship dynamics were some of the most interesting. Her friendships with Patricia, Amber and even Alfie were a delight to watch, and her cute, bumbling first love with Fabian was great.
3. Amber Millington
Amber Millington was the obvious comedic relief for the show and while sometimes she was too stupid for words, she did have her moments. I feel like they could’ve easily made a character like Amber into a stereotypical mean girl but she was always open and happy to welcome new people. Her relationship with Alfie wasn’t my favourite and the one with Mick was even worse and I think it was her friendships that were great.
2. Jerome Clark
Jerome Clark was a character that I never could’ve imagined myself liking so much. He’s so much fun, we find out a lot about his backstory which is always nice and I think he has some of the best romantic relationships in the show. I enjoyed Mara and Jerome together in the beginning and I think that Jerome and Willow could’ve worked if he hadn’t been cheating at the time. But, overall I think that Joy and Jerome was my favourite of all of his girlfriends – they suited each other so much. But, yeah, the cheating stuff wasn’t great. If it was another character that was more unlikeable it would’ve been easier to hate him for it. I also kinda love how he sometimes finds himself involved in the main mystery of the show but never feels the need to fully get involved. He’ll just do what he has to do but then let the others get on with it. That would be me.
1. Patricia Williamson
Patricia Williamson was a stand-out in the show. When the show starts it seems like she’s going to just be a typical ‘mean girl’ but she’s the one that got the most development throughout the first season. She’s a loyal friend who will pretty much do anything to help her friends. She also had the best relationship in the show (I think about Patricia and Eddie far too often for someone in their 20s) and, yes, while she sometimes can be quite mean, she’s a good person deep down.
